I've been reading Bill Bryson's "A Walk in the Woods", which is an excellent travel memoir of the author's trip along the Appalachian Trail.  It also makes me want to get outside and hike.  I need to get out and take a stab at the Ozark Highlands Trail and the AT before I get too wrapped up in careers, children and inescapable commitments...

After I graduate from Pharmacy school I have to take the NAPLEX.  After I take that, I'm packing up everything I own and moving to Juneau, Alaska.

Things I miss.

Coming home made me really nostalgic and got me thinking about a few of the things I miss.  So, here are a few.

Stars-There are millions of stars visible on a clear night on the Mountain.  In Russellville, there are about three.

Football-I really miss that.

Going to Proms-Oddly enough, there's something enjoyable about getting dressed up and cutting loose and   dancing.

My friends that have gone away for whatever reason (in no particular order)-Shannon, Randall, Mike, Jimmy, Forrest, Alexandra, Mark, Andy, Boyo, Curtis, DJ, Kristen, all my Ron Paul buddies, Jacqueline, Emily, Anthony, and Adrian among others.

High school band.

High school-it was good to me.  I had a great time.  It was pretty simple.  I always knew my friends and what I was doing.

Plano-some of my best memories are of visiting my aunt and grandmother in Plano.  Familial strife and my grandmother's passing put an end to the Texas trips.

Snow

My brother-He was in town last weekend, and I missed him.  I should've made more of an effort to see him.  My brother and I have a great relationship, and I don't get to see him enough.

I miss being on the mountain and commuting to school and work.

That summer that I worked on the Ranch and took Driver's Ed for two weeks, reading Frank Peretti novels and hanging out with Sim and Greg.

Paintball-shit was so fun.  I can't believe I stopped playing.

Living on campus-Paine Hall was the place to be.  I really miss it sometimes.

Being a Freshman-new experiences abounded, and I had a great time meeting new people and experiencing new things.  I might've cut loose a little harder than I should have, but it was an incredible time.

Being an officer in Sinfonia with my Best Buddy Travis.

Well, enough of my nostalgia trip.  What do you miss?

I'm supposed to be writing a speech about Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria for my speech class, but I keep getting sidetracked by the news from Iran.

It finally sank in.  And I finally cried.  There, you happy?

I already miss the shit out of you...
